Island Arts Around the World
Summer Camp 2011
(For ages 6-12)
July 5 to August 26, 2011
Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm

Optional before care (8:00-9:00am) and after care (4:00-5:30pm) available
Join us on an imaginary adventure to some of the world’s most beautiful islands as we have
fun and learn about island culture by creating art projects, participating in field trips,
welcoming special guest presenters and joining in creative movement activities.

All sessions include lunch, snack and outdoor play!

Session 1: July 5-15 "The Caribbean" The Bahamas, Jamaica and Cuba
Join us on an imaginary adventure to some of the world’s most beautiful islands as we have fun and learn about island culture by creating art projects, participating in field trips, welcoming special guest presenters and joining in creative movement activities. All sessions include lunch, snack and outdoor play!
Session 2: July 18-29 "Africa" Madagascar and Reunion
Join us on an imaginary adventure to some of the world’s most beautiful islands as we have fun and learn about island culture by creating art projects, participating in field trips, welcoming special guest presenters and joining in creative movement activities. All sessions include lunch, snack and outdoor play!
Session 3: August 1-12 "Asia" Sri Lanka and Japan
Activities include: Creating Japanese clay “pretend food”; designing individual Zen gardens; fashioning bird masks; constructing koi windsocks; learning printmaking techniques; watching a martial arts demonstration (trying a few friendly moves) and participating in yoga. Experiences: Japanese House and Gardens.
Session 4: August 15-26 "Australia" New Zealand, Tasmania, Kangaroo Island
