Press Release:
"Arts Around the World" Summer Camp Program
Registration has begun for "Arts Around the World," a unique 8-week summer camp offered by the University City Arts League that begins July 5 and
extends until the end of August.
The camp, divided into four 2-week sessions, will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, and includes before and after school care. Operating out of the
Arts League headquarters at 4226 Spruce Street, the camp will use skilled art educators to teach campers not only art in its various forms, but also
the international world in which we live to encourage an understanding of different cultures.
Campers can sign up for as little as one week or for the entire session. Painting, drawing, 3-D arts and pottery are among the art offerings. No
prior training is required. Field trips to places such as the Japanese Tea house and guests artists are key parts of the camp. Lunch and snacks are
provided. Swimming twice a week is also a special feature.
Register before May 14, and receive a discount for any two-week session: $420 for Arts league members, and $450 for non-members. After May 14, the fee
is $465 for members and $495 for non-members. The registration deadline is June 14.
The first two-week session beginning July 5 is focused on Asian arts. African arts will be the focus of the second session, starting July 19. Latin
American arts will occupy the campers' time in the third session commencing August 2, and the final session will be World Arts Today beginning August.
