We hope that this letter finds you well, healthy, and creatively enjoying this fall season. On behalf of the University City Arts League (UCAL), we are delighted to share with you the many accomplishments we have celebrated this year. These impressive successes are a direct result of the dedication and commitment of our staff, the innovative talent and experience of our instructors, and, most importantly, the generosity of supporters like you!
We are thrilled to share examples of the pioneering programs that you have helped us create and maintain. We particpated in the Philadelphia Open Studio Tours, and the Philadelphia Fringe Festival by holding an Arts League Wall-to-Wall Open House. We again partnered with Penn's School of Veterinary Medicine to offer the phenomenally successful Animal Art Adventure Summer camp, and presented workshops collaboratively with Bowerbird Collective, an improvisational music collective. Our gallery showcased ten free exhibitions of original art that were well-attended by both members of the community and school groups. In addition, we were able to expand our children's classes during after-school hours and weekends.
In order to ensure the continued success of these and other outstanding programs, we have streamined out internal operations and, at the same time, promoted our organization and activities extensively throughout West Philadelphia, Center City, and the wider Philadelphia community. Our new website and MySpace page (www.myspace.com/ucartsleague) have produced terrific results in recruiting new class participants and members. This new commitment to technology has enabled us to make the broader community aware of our mission and how we contribute to the splendid fabric of University City.
These advancements and new promises for community collaborations are a direct response to your desire for a world-class art experience in your backyard. We have taken your trusted investment seriously and have added additional financial resources with new grants and our 25th Annual Founders Auction.
With your continued support we can maintain our momentum and proud tradition of originality. Please help us continue to provide scholarship opportunities for neighborhood children to attend our summer camp or take class through the Bateman Scholarship Fund, beautify and preserve our historic building, enhance our arts and dance programming, or revitalize our pottery studio with the addition of a new kiln.
We hope that you will consider not only matching your past tax-deductible charitable contribution, but increasing it this year. As you know, by supporting the UCAL, you are investing in the arts, strengthening the University City community, and providing the promise of a better future for our neighborhood.
With great appreciation and best regards for an inspired 2008!
